veterans tribute

On Veterans Day, I’ve been moved by the tributes to military service members from so many wars and conflicts, and grateful for that service. But it also strikes me that we forget about a broader implication: I think it’s a reminder to the rest of us — the teachers and the philosophers and the scientists and the moms and the dads and the artists and the pastors and the writers and even the politicians — that we are especially responsible for making this a country worth fighting for. We should be thankful for the service of our protectors, and we should be obligated to make sure what they fight for is worthy of their lives.
